The following charts and graphs depict the findings of a three day sampling event from June 12 through June 26, 2012 on site 2B. This site and Site 2A were visited once per week over the course of the sampling event. Georgia Adopt-A-Stream parameters and procedures were instructed to the students on the class and followed throughout the duration of the event. Water quality tests were conducted to glimpse into the health of the stream at the preselected site. Water quality characteristics such as pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and temperature were observed and documented.
The pH for all three site visits was 7.5. This pH indicates a neutral level and shows that the water is safe.
Our measurements ranged from 100-110 us/cm. These measurements are both within the expected range for a healthy stream but are on the low side.
There was a rain between the first two visits so this explains why the humidity went up between visits. After that rain there was no more rain for the rest of the study which explains the large drop in humidity by the last sample.
The relationship between water temperature and Dissolved Oxygen is that as the water temperature decreases the Dissolved Oxygen goes up. In our study we found that our data follows that trend exactly.
There was no positive testing for Nitrate or Phosphate on any of our visits.
